Shelter Bay Marina

We are now at Shelter Bay Marina in Panama. The
crossing was nothing like the Atlantic - much calmer seas and only one or two
squalls - all very tame. Definately more in line with the "brochure promises".
We averaged 7 knots and wind strength 20. At one point we were barely moving and
found ourselves hoisting the main along with twinned out poles. Not really sure
it made any difference.
We caught two fish - well I say we. They only
seemed to bite when Jens and Johanna were on watch - fish magnets! One was tuna
the other we at first thought was Mackeral but on later investigation turned out
to be Wahi Wahi.
Strange to think we are in a different country
again. Although we are close to the Canal the actual marina is secluded and off
the beaten track. Having said that the facilities are in a class of their own.
They even have Jacuzzis!
We are now waiting for the admeasuring to be done -
a necessary formality before transitting through the canal. As ever things
happen in there own time so we shall have to be patient. We are booked to go
through the canal on Saturday evening leaving us a couple of days to sort and
reshuffle. Kim's friend Lynn is arriving on Thursday so she's off to meet her at
the hotel and have a night of relative luxury and girlie talk. Anything nautical
is OFF the agenda!

it in but the average temperature here is 28-30C.
