Praia Grande – Enseada da Pousa

We set off early leaving Iza family at Ilha da Cotia. They planned to spend the day and we were off exploring Enseada da Pousa.

We found a long beach, Praia Grande, anchored and went ashore. We had read about rapids and cool fresh pools and were determined to visit them.

Boy was it worth it. On arrival there were a young Brazilian couple there who advised us the best places to enter the pools and to get under the waterfall. My Portuguese understand is coming along in leaps and bounds so we manage to have a conversation of sorts. J

The river runs down to the sea creating a huge lagoon just behind the first sand dune. At high tide the sea breaks through and refreshes it.

We spent a good few hours in the pool and under the waterfall until a boat load of people arrived and we left.

We went further west exploring then came back to Praia Grande for the night.
