6th April 2011

We set off a little later than planned yesterday as when we went to check out of the Yacht club we discovered they were closed for the day! Finally we found someone who called the manager in to allow us to settle our bill.

Our first stop was the waterfall we discovered the other day. We wanted to show Yacht Isa and we wanted to climb up for a dip. It was all we expected, the water was cold compared to the water here but only as cold as Cape Town sea. The pool at the base was not big enough to swim in but standing under the cold clear water was wonderful.

The next stop was Ilha Itanhanga where we swam the other day. By the time we got there the clouds had come in and it was starting to rain. Yacht Isa decided they were going to spend the night there and we went on to the Nuclear Yacht Club we visited when exploring.

It was pouring by the time we anchored but 40 minutes later it had stopped and cleared some. We quickly packed snorkel gear and set off for the nearest rocks in the duck.

The shore in this area is amazing! Huge boulders tumbled into the sea. It looks like a giant had been playing “building blocks” with them; the way they had fallen had created a magical underwater world of tunnels to swim through, overhangs and channels. Despite the rain the visibility was about 5 meters and there were lots of different tropical fish.

André shot his first fish in 15years, huge grins and very proud. So dinner was fish fresh from the sea.

We have woken to a beautiful day and after another snorkelling session we will continue on our way to Parati.
