A sort of wiggys diary extract style log today, here goes....

There was not a drop of wind yesterday, every sailors nightmare you might
think. On the contrary, on Wing and a Prayer it was nigh on the perfect day.

Friday
0930 - Get out of bed, I was 'day skipper' the day before so I was entitled
to a full nights kip, I managed a modest 12 hrs. Mooch about for an hour
drinking tea.
1030 - Today I'm the cook. Scrambled egg, bacon and French toast thingy's
(bread doesn't last 2 weeks).
1100 - On deck, shirt off, soak up those rays.
1200 - The sun passes over the yard-arm, we start the daily meeting. Discuss
the forthcoming weather, boat provisions, health of the boat, 'personal
issues' etc. Wash all this down with a tin of beer.
1230 - The ocean is a mirror, the sun is beating down, we have 'the one we
came for'.
1300 - As the sea is flat we use the opportunity to remove jerry cans from
under the dinghy, empty into main fuel tank.
1330 - Erect the biminy (its hot). Have the ABL (another beer, the Absolute
Bl**dy Last).
1430 - Lunch, pasta with salmon, chopped tomatoes & olives. I demonstrate to
shipmates how to open tins with a leatherman.
1530 - Inspect the immediate surroundings for Blue Marlin, Killer Whales
etc. Its safe, so, 700 miles from the nearest land in the mid Atlantic I go
for a swim just so I could say that I had. Nothing beneath me but 4500m of
water.
1600 - Have a shower, with the engine running all day the water maker has
been flat out so fresh water is in plentiful supply. It'd be rude not to.
1700 - Happy Hour. A large G&T and discussions about narrow-boating????
1800 - Aperitif of mixed nuts plus 'the one we came for'.
1930 - I cook dinner, corn beef hash, very tasty if I do say so myself. Wash
down with a glass of red.
2100 - Bed and much needed kip. Port tack not the most comfortable.

Saturday
0300 - Up for my watch, the engine is off and we're sailing with the current
now in our direction for a change. Not a lot happens and its a tad chilly.
0600 - Brew up for Andy, hand over the watch then back to bed. I may have
sussed sleeping on Port.
0900 - Out of bed to a glorious day. Windier than yesterday. Skipper is in
conversation with yacht 'Sunrise' approx 1/2 a mile to leeward, also heading
for the Azores.
1030 - Breakfast a'la Graham. Bacon, scrambled eggs, French toast things and
fried SMASH (rations are definitely running low!!). Having tasted it I
commented that I wasn't the biggest fan of fried SMASH but I was glad to
have tried it, to which Andy commented 'Even Little Chef haven't sunk this
low yet'.
1200 - Sun, yard-arm, meeting, beer, send email........
