Hi Folks
Well this trip has been a feast or a famine. Too much wind or not enough,
sometimes in the right direction. Yesterday we all agreed was the best day
so far. Sunny, warm, winds between 20/25kts with a knot and a half of
current. We scootered along with a spinnaker and later as the wind got
stronger on the jib. Gobbling up the miles.
There was a buoyant mood on board as we talked through the last 72 hours. We
had our first happy hour for three days and so it was decided to treat
ourselves to a second G&T. Heavy on the Gin due to the shortage of tonic.
However the wind is fickle and round midnight we had a sail change call. The
winds had got to 30kts and the seas began to build. This morning I was on
the last night watch when the wind died round 4am. I had to resort to engine
for a couple of hours until the wind returned, be it light on a beat round
6am so I called another sail change. Rib Van Wiggy was heard to say "Who do
you think you are Ellen B*** Macarthy.
Today we are beating in light winds making slow progress but we are past
half way. Azores here we come.
Cheerfull, morale boasting E mails welcomed.
