Bye bye Biscay...

Morning!

As I write, it's just gone four o'clock in the morning and the wind has just started filling in again after a frustrating few windless hours. I'm heading 240 degrees along the northwestern coast of Spain with the Bay of Biscay now well behind me. In fact, I'm now in the same bit of water just off of La Coruna where Chris and I sailed Swagman a couple of months ago. Then, we faced eight metre waves and strong winds but today I've had three days of perfectly clear skies and some pretty uninspiring downwind sailing.

So, as I turned south out of biscay last night, accompanied by a couple of dolphins, I looked on schedule to arrive in Ria de Vigo late tonight but I think though, at this pedestrian pace, I'll probably have a fourth night at sea. A couple of times, when the wind has indulged me with a nice broad reach, I've taken the helm to coax Canasta  up to eight or nine knots and it's those occassions that make it all worthwhile. Oh, and last night's Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney pie eaten under a setting sun, listening to Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel on the MP3 player with civilisation defined only by a few distant clusters of lights dotted along the shoreline... of course!

So that's all from me for now. I've been a bit remiss about keeping the position map up to date but I've set up the satellite phone for sending data now so I can keep on top of it.

Have a great weekend,

Bee
