Once again the weather looks like it is settling.  Ideally I am looking for a 3-4 day weather window to get about 400Nm south and out of the reach of any depressions that are crossing the Atlantic.  The trades winds have set much further south this year.  At the end of November when the ARC boats left they were advised to travel to 10-12N to pick up the trades.  I am hoping to find them about 21N but in reality will probably need to go a bit further to find consistent winds.

 

While I am at sea I should be able to download weather information and use basic e-mail facilities to keep this blog up to date.  I am planning to update my position information every two days.  The biggest barrier to doing this will be the cost of the Iridium service.  Although not exorbitant, I have about $180 of credit and using this for weather downloads will be my priority.
