Very sad to leave NUKU HIVA. the locals made us feel very welcome. We
made friends with the local paragliding community. Both of them.

It turns out they are both considered crazy by the locals but are
greatly respected. KIMI is the fireman, ambulance, town planner. truck
driver. civil engineer, and alternative energy consultant. Oh and he is
retired from the french foreign legion, 30yrs. His mate COHU threw us a
party, did most of the cooking and is the ceremonial cook for any big
feast. He is a local legend and is the professor for local wood
carvings. His son is the most respected tatoo artist in the islands. We
hope to meet him in Bora Bora. The people are as spectacular as the
islands. gregarious, open warm and dont mind a party.

The flying, whilst challenging(dont ask nicki about the bruises) was
stunning.

We have had a reasonable run as far as wind goes. 140+nm a day. Got a
huge mahi mahi but it gave the skipper rope burns and then straightened
the hook. Steve has made a new lure to suit the slower speeds. time will
tell if it works. Seas have been calm. weather spectacular. tropical
evenings and sunny days. rigged a few more sun shades. Wind today has
shifted more northerly. a bit odd. seas picked up to 2m nothing on the
horizon and mercury steady so not to worry. We look to have timed it
right to enter about lunch tomorow. chat later.
