Hi all.
we have finally organized the Panama Canal transit.
They changed the rules just as we got here and you could no longer pay with visa. you have to pay cash or bank transfer. we started to pay cash but walking around Colon city with a couple of thousand usd is suicidal so we have transferred the dosh.
Anyway. we will be leaving the marina tomorrow at 4pm to meet the pilot at 5 in the flats(an anchorage near the 1st lock)to start the transit at 6pm. it will be dark when we pass the Gatun locks(the Atlantic side) so the web cams wont show much but the Miraflores lock is on the other side and we will be going through the next morning after spending the night on the lake at the top. Panama city is supposed to be nicer and a whole lot safer than Colon so we are all looking fwd to a bit more freedom.
We dont have many pics as carrying a camera isnt smart here.
