In the morning we decided to move further out in the bay to make way for all of the tourist boats and anchored in 12m just off another reef. This was definitely a much quieter position during the day but we had non-stop club music blaring from 7pm to 4am from the busy beach on Phi Phi Don! We did go ashore during the day and the coral reef and long beach was very beautiful with clear water. The island itself was disappointing with an overwhelming amount of tourists and backpackers (we must have been the oldest by far!) with tourist shops, dive centres and people selling island boat tours – however I did manage to fit in a 30minute foot massage for $10 and was very satisfied! I should mention that this was one of the islands that were obliterated in the 2004 Tsunami – but you wouldn’t know it by the number of tourists and development right on the beach.
