We left Hole in the Wall early and motored 12 nm to the main harbour at Kuah as we needed to go into town to get the normal supplies – chandlery bits and pieces for the boat, groceries, our ferry tickets for Penang and a stop at our favourite Langkawi chinese restaurant Weng Fung. To our surprise on our dinghy trip back to the boat we saw a yacht called Wapiti we recognised from New Guinea. It was a Frenchman called Eve who we first met in Kokopo and in Kavieng 2 years ago. I often think about him as he is a solo sailor and left Paris 27 years ago and has been sailing the world ever since. We dropped by to say hello and then he came over for coffee in the morning. He looked well and has been to the Philippines and Thailand since we last saw him. He has been in the harbour already for a month and is unsure of his next journey – he is waiting for the wind to increase as he doesn’t like using his engine (too noisy – a true sailor!)
