First day at sea has been fast and furious and we are all feeling the effects a little.  Once again the Owner gave us a terrific start and certainly for the first hour we were leading our class, where we are now it not certain.  Suffice to say we had a very brisk breeze of 25kts from the NE off the line and during the afternoon and evening this steadily increased to 30-35kts with patchy rain squalls.  This gave us some lively sailing conditions, a max speed of 12.2kts (Charlie) and a 24hr run of 207 miles, a personal best for Patience.  The wind had moderated a little as I write to 20kts and veered to the east so we are currently following the great circle route.  However, it has not been without a little drama and true to form we have put a tear in the No1 jib overnight so that has to come off when conditions allow.
Very briefly then, dear Reader, we are all well, have eaten a hot meal today and adjusting to life at sea; this means catching up with sleep when not on watch.
