We beat up the Solent in the cold early morning, with the tide under us.  Despite the early hour, there were still a few boats out and about.  Off Cowes, the wind dropped off so we motored the last few miles into Portsmouth Harbour, and berthed in Haslar at 0930, 172 miles from Falmouth.

I said goodbye to David, who caught the ferry & train back to his home in Norfolk. I’ve really enjoyed sailing with him – a really nice man.  Then I’ve spent the last day and a half cleaning and servicing Nutmeg so she is spick and span for inspection by the crew.  I’m going to pick them up in half an hour from the train station in Portsmouth.

I had several phone calls from work, trying to get hold of me – they seem to have forgotten I am on an (unpaid) LOA.  I have to admit I am getting anxious about going back to work.  They emailed to tell me I have got an interview with the client partner the day I go back.  Great – what fun!!

Will write longer (my final post!) when we get to Shoreham.  Plan is to set off early tomorrow to get through the Selsey Bill tidal gate before tide turns at 0945.
