Transat Day 20

Not much to report today.  No squalls, which has made life a little easier than it already is, and an orderly swell which isn’t causing us any problems.  Wind is only 10-12kts from the East, which could be worse.  Nutmeg is sailing at 5kts in a SSW direction, in the general direction of the West Indies.

My set of prediction models for arrival time is showing us arriving at some point on Tuesday morning – 3 days to go!  The forecast shows fairly light winds, so this may well extend a little.  Ideally I’d like to get in before 0900 local time (1300UTC) on Tuesday, as that would mean a crossing time of < 23 days (as we started at 1300UTC on Sunday 23rd November).

I was woken at 0200 by a shout of “Oh my God” from Sally, who was steering at the time.  A flying fish whizzed past her ear, bounced off the companionway, and landed, fluttering, on the aft cabin floor.  I got up, not realizing what had happened, and nearly stood on the damn thing!  Once I’d worked out what had happened, I picked it up by the tail and threw it back in.  What an adventure to tell its mates!

I think we are all very keen to get there now.  3 weeks is a long time at sea.  We are definitely in that 3rd phase now, where we are just counting down the miles.

Hope all’s well
