We left Tobago Cays and made the
short hop over to Mayreau where we anchored just off the beach in Saltwhistle Bay.
This is a picture-perfect crescent-shaped bay with white sand and palm
trees.

The girls now routinely jump out of
the dinghy about 30 feet from the shore, and swim ashore with the painter. They tied it round the nearest palm
tree! Clichéd I know, but it’s
true!

We decided, purely for research
purposes, to have lunch at the well-hidden restaurant tucked in the palm
trees. The food was mediocre and
the waitress was fantastically bad-tempered, which was amusing. We then had a game of hide-and-seek in
amongst the palm trees.

“Can I bring it back to the boat
Dad?”

Alas, nothing is ever quite so
perfect as it seems, and out in the bay, the swell had increased and all the
yachts were rolling badly. We
decided to up anchor and continue on our way, rather than spend a rolly night
here.
