Arrived at Parga on mainland Greece at 1.30pm today from Gaios on Paxos. Spectacular setting with very high mountains with amazing old castle. Anchored in very small bay with clear but cold water. Fab weather and tonight a fort is lit up on the very top of a mountain which looks amazing.

However …….went by dinghy into the town tonight to discover that it’s Greece’s answer to Benidorm. The miles of umbrellas on the beach, boats towing screaming tourists round the bay on an inflatable sofa at high speeds should have given it away. Not really a place for yachties which was very obvious when there was nowhere to land the dinghy when we got to town. Instead we landed on this concrete break water and discovered that it was almost impossible to stand upright due to the slippy green sludge. Luckily Andy battled on over the sludge, and other obstacles such as then the mounds of boulders to make it ashore for supplies while I stayed in the dinghy. He would make an excellent contestant on TOTAL WIPEOUT hosted by Richard Hammond. Might send in his entry when we get back.
