The day started bouncing around Finistere in 50 knot winds under staysail and dodging the fishing fleet until daybreak.  Progressively used the whole suit of sails going to main, genoa and then spinnaker as we headed south past Bayona and the wind gradually tailed off.  Finally this afternoon we had to take down the spinnaker and release the donkey out of the stable as the wind dropped to zero!  Also, despite throwing a ‘guaranteed’ paravane and really tasty looking new lure into the water we have caught nothing.  Andy had a wash and shave today but the rest of us didn’t want to break a habit since leaving Dartmouth – perhaps tomorrow?  We are now looking forward to a calm night of motoring south after just seeing a huge red sunset between the clouds.
