Arrived back in Corfu at Gouvia Marina at 3pm yesterday. It as been incredibly hot at 32C for the last 2 days. Being slightly inshore there is next to no breeze at all. The water on the sail back from Paxos was flat calm like pond at night with no disturbance.

Tried to run this morning but mainly walked as it was at least 25c by 9.30am with high humidity.

Today Andy went up the mast to put in a bulb or something. I took the washing to the laundrette. In this heat even hanging it round the rails of the boat to dry was exhausting. Did other general boat jobs (yaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnn)

Also went to supermarket where we didn’t need much but stayed ages as it had air conditioning. Managed to spend lots of money on lemonade, water and gingerale (essential for Pimms but very hard to locate) and of course crisps. One token packet of chocolate biscuits and a kiwi fruit was the only food  we had room for in the bag after the other essentials. (Plus we had to trek it back about half a mile.)

Our fellow sailors in this marina are an interesting bunch. One just passed with a t-shirt stating: “BEER, it’s my only friend”. Another plays guitar topless (and it’s not a man). Think it best we don’t stay too long.

Its now 8pm and its 32C. Will be so much better when we come back and can anchor off islands where it’s fresher. Fly back to the UK Friday late Friday night.
