Dead Things!

As for the last three days I have watched the breaking dawn astern with some very strange aromas around me. As the light builds I have found an assortment of dead sea creatures adorning the deck and in some cases other places too! Yesterday there were 10 squid of various sizes and today an assortment of flying fish, small fish and squid..it seems that since we stopped fishing due to landing the huge tuna two days ago the sealife have taken it upon themselves to 'jump aboard'! The downside is that before very long the squid adhere to the deck and then come apart in a rather unfortunate way when they are peeled off, spilling ink and other fluids all over the beautiful teak laid deck! We start fishing again today and so they well be used for bait from now on.

This really had been an amazing trip so far. Who has ever had a broad reach in glorious sunshine and smooth seas last for three full days, I didnt even alter sail trim for 24 hours. This has meant life aboard is pretty relaxed, No1 has done an incredible job with catering as I had just about tired of tuna three times a day. This was prompted by our freezer problems. This seems to be due to a faulty pump and after a night of working out an ingenious way of using the deck wash to cool the freezer I found deep in a locker a complete spare 24volt pump left by the previous skipper. All hooked up and hurrah,, freezer working well. We did mange to thaw about 6 rations of meat though and so it was BBQ pork last night...amazing!!

Great news is that we did 199miles in the 24 hours since 0600 yesterday..havent broken the 200 mile barrier yet this trip but it looks as if more wind is coming.

No 1 has just awoken for her watch so off to make tea.......

Just before I go..it is Chris Honeys funeral today..I reallly wish I could be there and our thoughts will be with his family today..,,very very sad!

Wishing the rest of you a great day wherever you are!
