We planned to visit Salvagem Grande en route to Gran Canaria and obtained a permit to visit from the Portuguese Authorities, unfortunately the wind and swell was from the SE which made the small rocky anchorage untenable so we had no alternative but to continue on to Gran Canaria, arriving the day before the ARC left at 09.00 on 21 November.

Caught up with Tony and Diane on Diatonic, CA members whom we had last seen in Malta. Tony was up to his eyes in 'things to do' and Brian gave him a hand running new battery charge cables. Also caught up with Chris and Anne Brooke, who were scrutineers for the ARC. (Chris and Anne are members of WFYC). We watched the start of the ARC, (quite nostalgic) and ultimately caught up with Andrew Bishop on Monday (after the ARC had left). He was a lot more relaxed by this time, with all his responsibilities discharged.

Had a great sail round to Pasito Blanco, GC; sadly Tim our CA HLR was committed and unable to join us on board for the beer we had promised him for offering assistance to receive our autopilot motor; so it was on to Tenerife.
