Hi all. Bit of a frustrating day again yesterday. We had a flat calm all day. Not a breath of wind all day which mean't more motoring.
We had a couple of breaks to swim because it was so hot without any wind.
We continued to motor until deep into the night but decided to cut our motors at around 4AM to conserve the last of our diesel for entering Falmouth Harbour. Some wind came up a little later from the south-east so we set the geneker and decided to sail the rest of the way.
This morning sees us 60NM from Antigua and still unable to see land. If we can't make it to port before dark we will lay off and enter the Harbour in the morning [my daughter Kates birthday] Very frustrating to have come so far and be stuck just off the coast.
The good news is our fishing luck took a turn for the better but unfortunately we have nothing to show for it. After weeks of thinking there were no fish ocean it all turned around in a big way for us yesterday. We were motoring at around 4 knots when the fishing reel which had been silent for weeks came to life. I was at the helm station and immediately cut the motor to dash for the rod. Line was still singing off the reel when I got there. I applied more drag and the fish went balistic. A few seconds later we realised we had hooked a  5-6 foot sailfish when it launched itself into the air. Following this it went for another run and then launched into the air again. Unfortunately [or fortunately] for us the second attempt was successful and the fish escaped. In a minute or two this magnificant fish had taken 100 metres of line and it felt as though he could have taken the whole lot if it put its mind to it.
We currently have a south-west wind at 8 knots and are progressing at around 3 knots.
