Getting close now with only 350NM to go!!
Yesterday we had a good following wind until mid-afternoon. The wind really dropped of then and at times hit only 3-4 knots. Over the course of the afternoon it did pick up to around 8-9 knots and still, thankfully, from behind us. We were all thinking we were going to hit a total calm like we did at the start of this leg but, eventually, in the evening we again saw 10-12 knot winds but they had turned south to be lying at 90 degrees to our port side. Overnight we made good progress but earlier in the day had cost us and over 24 hours only made a total of around 109NM.
Today we have a calm sea and wind around 10 knots but it has turned further south and is threatening to become a headwind. If this happens we will struggle to make progress without a mailsail.
If the wind drops right out altogether we will have another go at repairing the main halyard. Having the mailsail back would be of great assistance to us right now.
It's looking as though my son Robert may head over to join us in the Caribbean for a coupkle of weeks. He is just trying to get his passport organised. It would be great to see him after us being away from home now for about 7 weeks.
Sorry, not much more to report but all aboard well and looking forward to a spell on land.
