06/12/10
Wind ENE 18 knots
Weather Squally
Heading 270deg
Distance to St Lucia 1189 NM

At last good sailing winds and we are now making very fast passage at around 8 knots
Our point of sail is a mixture of beam reaching  or poled out headsail downwind and we’ve made numerous changes and reefs  today as Squalls go by and whip it up

Looking forwards to getting to St Lucia now as it has been a bit of drawn out affair, wondering whether  we would actually have enough wind to make it this side of Christmas!
But moral has held up well thru all of that flapping about and now we feel we have at last turned the corner.

SSB net has us singing our versions of “on the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me..” so we can’t escape it even out here . But lots of fun making another verse each day and singing and broadcasting it over the net- out of tune !- it does get funny when the message has to relayed by another boat and  has to be written down and re sung by the relay boat again.     Its all fun out here!

Bye for now
Guy
