Tuesday 7th July - 9.30am

Left L,Aber Wrach 2.30am (BST) on Sunday to get tide to take us thru the big tidal gates of Chanel Du Four and Raz Du Sein, the idea to do it on one tide span 6 to 7hrs
(imperative to take Raz Du Sein at slack water with fresh to strong winds), anyway we did it in time and went on to Audiern 10 miles up the coast arriving at 9.30am

Spent a very relaxed day in the sunshine and managed to sort out Iridium connection issues (in other words I made sure I configured it properly this time)
That and getting a good clear signal made it happen and a chance for you to read our riveting log  - I make no apologies for bad grammar/spelling and boring the pants of you, and put it down to  sleep deprivation / double vision and account of me.

Departed Audiern 10.00am Monday 6th July
Trough just about on us but winds now forecast force 4 to 5 S/W and veering N/W later (not force 6 as forecast yesterday), so decided to leave.
Tuesday had 4 to 5 N/W forecast

Had a Stonking sail, but quite tough at first with winds S/W sailing at 45deg to wind wind/ rough sea in 21/22 kts true. (fortunately the continental shelf is far out -100 miles out from the French coast, where the depth  drops from 150mts to 4000mts in just a few miles and the seas get awfully confused and rather large, and by the time we got there things had eased a bit and we had no problem
Winds eased off to West then WNW later and dropped a little giving us a cracking sail.

We are averaging over 7 knots boat speed and that's with one reef in the main/2 reefs in the head sail and a mizzen sail to balance things,  on course to do 170 miles in the 24hr period- its crazy what one gets excited about!
But then I will not bore you with 200 or so miles motoring to get out of the s---ing English Channel
The distance to Coruna from Audiern is 320nm so if the winds keep up then due to cross Biscay in under 2 days

Will either head for into Coruna N/W Spain or travel on round the coast to one of the Rias and visit Bayona

Thanks for your patience
Debs and John are well if not a little tired - poor things! Although Debs has a little mal du mer as she often does at the beginning of a long trip
