Azores to Dartmouth, Day 5 - Monday June 7, 2010

At 1200 hrs UT:

45:35.9N 21:35.8W

Distance to Dartmouth: 776 Nautical Miles

It was a pretty eventful evening aboard the Knightime. While at the helm, in strong winds, big seas and heavy rain, Beer took a wave large enough to activate his automatic life vest (picture attached). The sound of the gas filling the vest's bladder was only ever so slightly more audiable than Martin's laughter. I think over the course of the day, each of us expierienced a similar wave across the cockpit. Thankfully, we're so hopped up on cookies and candy, we barely notice anymore. Seriously, there are enough treats aboard this ship to make a snuff film for Type-2 diabetes!

Around sunrise we had yet another whale sighting - this time we were followed by some four or five pilot whales. Althouh it is a credit to the Hoff, you'd think these whales would have earned that name for being a bit more knowledgeable in the navagation department. We remain as entertained by these sightings as I assume they are by us. But, could they be telling us something? Maybe they are offering up themselves for whale oil in the hopes that BP will finally cap that leak!
