Final countdown

The Voyages of Richard and Amanda
Fri 21 May 2010 23:13
It is all a bit rushed at the moment, the plan is to leave on Sunday, and it could still happen but I think there might be too many things left to sort out. I (Richard) have finished work as far as I can but the problem has been that doing that has been so full on that there hasn't really been time to get all the other little bits organised. So some important stuff like confirming the insurance cover, updating the Coastguard with our Satellite phone number is still outstanding.

On the plus side the engine is working well, the manifold went back on easily and everything seems OK. The mast went back up today (Fri) and although in an ideal world we should allow several days of testing, I don't think we have the time. Still our route down the coast gives us plenty of ports to divert to before we set off towards the Azores if we need to call in and fix anything that breaks.

The food is all on board apart from some fresh stuff - cheese, eggs spreads etc. so we are not that far off being ready. The trouble is it is always easy to find the last things that absolutely must be done and to put off the actual going.

Still the weather for the next few days is looking good so if we can we will leave Sunday 23rd about 10am from Northney marina.
