Had a great night out in Viveira thanks to Andrew. He has lived down here for the last two years and keeps his boat in the marina as well as doing up a house in the countryside near the town. We got some of the background on the marina apparently there was a lot of money given from the EU for development work, especially for introducing new facilities around the marina and when after repeated attempts to get some accounts on where the money had gone, the body doing the distribution pulled the plug until explanations are made. It seems there is a question of a missing 400,000 euros that needs to be sorted. It seems a very Spanish sort of problem, until you remember all the duckponds and moats our lot have been claiming for..

We were very taken with the idea of staying in Viveiro, however we felt we should take advantage of a reasonable wind forecast to keep going east. So at 10am we slipped our moorings and headed off to Ribadeo about 25 miles away. As it happened the wind didn't materialise and we ended up motoring the whole way. The only weather that did materialise was lots of rain!!! Though to be fair this is the first real rain we've had this holiday.

Eventually the entrance to Ribadeo appeared out of the murk and we motored down the Ria, under a road bridge (clearance 30m) to the marina. There was whistle and a wave from a man in yellow oilskins who directed us to a berth at the end of a pontoon. He took our ropes helped us to tie up then disappeared off. Eventually we found our way to the marina office, where we sat dripping water all over the carpet while we filled in the details of boat, skipper etc. Very reasonable rates of 28Euro for two nights including showers and electricity (useful if we can find a socket that works!!).

Tonight we will eat in - chicken and mushroom pie, peas and new pots. Tomorrow we will have a look round the town and pop into the supermarket for some more fresh veg etc.
