Well we finally tore ouselves away from La Coruna and set off for Cedeira, a small fishing village with a quiet anchorage that was recommended to us by one of the English sailors we met in the Marina. There was just one small problem and that was we needed to go NE to clear the headland 13 miles away and guess what the wind was blowing from the NE. So we were faced with 3 hours motor sailing dead into wind or a quick change of plan to bear away to a small marina in Ares.

So, hello to everybody from Ares...

Having come here we are really glad we did. It is an incredibly picturesque setting with a lovely beach right at the end of a Ria or inlet (fiord). We arrived the day before Corpus Christi Sunday. I'm not sure of the significance of that but the people were decorating the streets with flowers. This means laying out intricate pictures and patterns on the ground made up of a mosaic of flower heads laid individually. Even the little we were able to see showed it would look fantastic. Unfortunately our plans mean we are leaving tomorrow morning so we won't be able to see the finished work.

We have both fallen in love with this part of Spain, the scenery is fantastic, the people friendly and it doesn't seem too expensive. The only problem would be how we would live if moved here. Still maybe when we retire!!

So tomorrow, weather permitting we are going to try again for Cedeira. Who knows - we might actually get there!!
