Day Sixteen at Sea - 09/12/14

Schnoogle arrived for the "mood meeting" at 9.15 a.m. UK (06.00 local) and uttered; "That cleared the atmosphere a bit". After a few queries it turned out he was referring to the clearer sky about us. We had gone to our bunks in sweltering heat with a misty, cloudy sky threatening some electrical action. Thankfully, none came. It was a slower night (6.5kts average) with some light passages. At around 01.00 a series of alarms went off. They were triggered by Schnoogle having established a security zone about the boat. No vessel could come within 2 nm of us without being detected by one of our various electrical gadgets. We felt so safe within the Homan Force Field.

The alarm was due to a massive tanker passed by (1nm) on our port side; Skip called them up to ensure they were aware of us in the vastness. He spoke with an American female who was Watchkeeper on the vessel (Athena) and asked for a weather report. After a little while they confirmed that they had none. How things have changed.

We have wind today, in the right direction and enough for fun with no concerns.

Today's main activity after rubbish clearance and deck scrub, seems to be flight re-shuffling - save for Shrimps who has decided to shave off his beard. He has cut about 95% of it off this morning leaving just a few wisps here and there for his regular barber to deal with in 'Ampshire. Homan refuses to wash the sheets in the Library.

Breakfast was sausages (Homan pork) in a pap. Lunch is burgers. That protein must be consumed. Our diets can wait 'til Christmas.

Temp on deck - 33C.

632 miles-to-run.
