‘North Foreland to Selsey Bill – South westerly force 5-7, occasionally gale 8 east of Beachy Head.’  Says it all really, we’ve been here over a week now and watched a few folk come and go, but we keep reminding ourselves that we’re a small boat in unfamiliar waters and it’s meant to be fun.  So, instead we caught a bus to Margate on Thursday and walked along the windswept beach - no donkeys and very few people, enough said.  Yesterday (Friday) we hopped on a train to Canterbury; the cathedral is huge and stately as one might expect of a mother church, and the grandeur comes from the stone itself rather than elaborate trappings or adornment.  The town is the spitting image of York, which felt quite odd, and we enjoyed walking along the riverside (we can’t seem to stay away from water although the only boats we saw were punts).

Photos – even the big boys have been looking for shelter this week!
