Sunday morning 15 May  - Why does my coffee taste strange?  We find that SOMEBODY left the top off the water tank inlet when we filled up at Wells, so we took in sea water all day yesterday.  I’ve had nagging toothache for a few days so, apart from a walk, we do nothing all day which feels wonderful.

Monday 16 May – strong winds so we stay in harbour, which is timely as I must see a dentist.  Before the trip we bought a liferaft packaged in a rigid canister with the intention of putting it on the stern rail.  Unfortunately, we’ve had to have it on the floor for boat trim, moving it from cockpit to saloon, which is a heavy nuisance as the canister has smooth rounded edges with nowhere to grip.  As we’re staying here we decide to have it repackaged into a valise, which is like a squishy suitcase with handles.  According to google, the marine safety company is only a couple of miles away so, like idiots, we decide we could do with the walk.  Rumours of an odd couple pushing a liferaft around Lowestoft in an oversized supermarket trolley are probably true!

Tuesday 17 May – still in Lowestoft but firing on all cylinders again so busy planning routes and, in particular, how to stay out of the way of the shipping lanes as we now have to cross the entrances to Felixstowe and Harwich, not to mention the Thames estuary.
