Plymouth to Canaries - star date 010818

Welcome to the first post from the good ship Itchycoo Park.

Left Plymouth on time as planned (well almost - only a few minutes late)
in glorious sunshine and south westerley winds of 15 knots. The smart ones
amongst you will know that we are trying to sail south west so the wind is
entirely from the wrong direction.

After a couple of hours of motoring into the headwind we were bored with
that and decided to sail. Perfect conditions for making 5 knots but
almost entirely in the wrong direction prompting calls from the navigator
(who has a flight booked from Spain on Tuesday) to please head south. At
present we are still outnumbering him 4 to 1 and heading west. At time of
writing (5.30 pm Wednesday) we are looking at views of Falmouth and the
Cornish coast.

All systems on the boat are functioning well with no issues so far. No
seasickness either but we have been mainly on deck. Joined by porpoises
for a while but apart from that the only wildlife has been the whales on
deck.
