Following on from yesterday we managed to persuade the Vegetable turner that heading due south was not helpful and we had a good progressive day knocking off another 162 miles to leave us at 14:43.32N 56:34.67W . However Popeye the Vegetable Turner is back on the wheel and we have just said hello to Igor Ivanovich of the Russian Arctic research station who sends his fraternal greetings to his english comrades. Apart from that we have 256 miles to go so still looking good for arrival Thursday. On current timings we will be arriving about 3.00am so our big decision today is do we speed up to make closing time or slow down to make opening time….its a toughie either way we trust our welcome party will be on hand with few cold tinnies to wash the salt away. The other major decision of the day is what to with the beards sported by all crew now except Kevin who lets face it would like he was upside down if he had a beard. Favourite seems to be The Cavalier - goatee beard and handlebar moustache - kevin (we feel out of sheer jealousy) has pointed out the certain crew with their grey beards could pass as Cavaliers dads - Git!
So what else is new - hang on I will have a look around - well I can see a lot of sea, sun, flying fish and to ring the changes a lot of Sargossa Sea Weed. It provides great amusement to watch he fling fish launch themselves off the top of a wave fly 50 feet to land firmly in the middle of a carpet of sea weed - at least it keeps them off my decks. Dan has finally got to terms with his Lee Cloth (strips of Canvas and rope to help keep you in your bunk when the boat rolls) by wrapping his arm around one of the support ropes - we feel this accounts for his somewhat disturbing dreams about bondage. Sharing a double berth with a lee cloth down the middle Kevin and I have also suffered an amount of Lee Cloth failure. When we hit a particularly large wave (normally when the VT is on he wheel) Kevin is launched over the top of the cloth into my bunk which as we havent even been on a first date yet is I feel a touch presumptive.
Well thats it for today hopeful we will see land tomorrow - probably Barbados but who cares
