Highlights of yesterday were the pod of common dolphins who came to say hello with south London accents - thats how we knew they were common - and the pilot whales who, despite their name, seemed to want directions from our pilot, analogue Dave, whom they ignored - much like we do.
Food and water supplies are still ample but a few issues in provisioning are emerging. All fresh milk (sell by date 9th August) is now cream - despite being in the cooler so we are on the powdered variety in tea and coffee. The bananas have also given up and started dripping -no idea why!
Don't tell Helen but Bob achieved a world first for himself yesterday - chopping yams in 6ft rollers (thats waves not the hair variety). Dinner once more was NOT fresh fish so Roger is now getting plenty of unwanted advice on that front.
The watch system remains a mystery for some but functions without too much hassle - the only crew member to oversleep and have to be awoken being the man who wrote it - Kevin.
Personal hygiene is becoming a challenge. The plan to 'shower' with a bucket of sea water on the aft deck has been abandoned (waves) and there are strict instructions not to use too much water. Wet wipes and alcohol hand wash to the fore.
On the subject of alcohol the closest we have come to a 'MayDay" on this trip is Bob's liver talking to his stomach in some distress as he has nothing to process. Stomach has told liver to expect an onslaught on Monday in port.
