Days run by log 101 miles
Dear Reader
Glorious sunshine but sod all wind......in fact we are down to less than 3
kts at present. I've had the engine on since 0400 and intend to keep
motoring until the wind returns or I get to 1/2 a main tank then I'll stop.
Haven't seen another ship for a couple of days then I get up last night and
I have one either side and on in the distance. I think I had better cut my
sleep periods from 40 to 30 minutes and have a longer look on the
horizon.............when I can see it that is!
We have started to move further north off the rhumb line course to avoid the
worst affects of the hole and by Thursday we should be in better winds to
turn west again.
Still have about 1/2 a knot of current against us which is stealing about 12
miles a day off our journey home.
Featured product of the day is.....................Tesco Ready to eat dried
Apricots. These are some of the most juicy succulent apricots I have eaten,
(mumble wasn't too fussed though when I threw a couple on the floor), and
they come in one of those modern resalable bags to keep the freshness
in..............mmmm yummy!! Do you know, and not many people know this,
that only 3 of these Apricots = one of your five a day fruit and veg
portions.Only three, it beggars belief!! I'm stocking up and my fruit and
veg account is in very positive territory.
Now I don't want you to think that I'm weird or anything, but listen to
this. I have a skein of yellow wool which I brought for tying the spinnaker
before launching so that it bursts open just at the right time. Yesterday I
had to tie up my extra safety lines , which run down the outside of the
boat, with the wool, to stop it being washed over the side. Well I have now
had the wool in my pocket for almost a day now and I cant put it back in the
bag. It just feels comforting to hold it now and then (Yes its the wool I'm
talking about). Ok I may be just a bit weird but you try it at home and see
what I mean.
That's all for now so tune in tomorrow to see if the wind is back or if the
high has moved the goal posts yet again
Berni
