Dear Reader,
Left the marina just before lunch time Sunday to glorious sunshine and light
5 kt winds. Motored for about 4 hours to get out of the wind shadow of the
island then started to sail, but very slowly. Why do I always get depressed
when I leave land?? I should be happy because I'm going home but it always
gets me on the first 24 hours.
The wind picked up during the night and this morning, gusting up to 30 Kts,
but luckily we were running almost dead downwind. Lucky that is for boat
speed and direction, but absolute crap for trying to sleep or cook a meal.
The boat pitches violently from side to side because the waves can't make
their mind up, and there are no safe places to leave anything, including a
sleeping body. But, hey ho you cant have it all, at least we were going in
almost the right direction and as I write this now the wind is moderating
and mr sun has just put his hat on.
Will we get clobbered by the tail of the depression or will it go over our
heads....................tune in tomorrow.
