Dear Reader,
We managed to top the 100 once more with a run of 105 miles by log and over
90% of that towards our destination. Yesterday afternoon was gloriously
sunny with light 8 kt winds pulling the cruising chute in the right
direction. Saw a pod of 4 whales which came up about 30 metres away to port
and had the real pleasure of school of Dolphins who came to say hello and
played around the boat for a while. Always a good luck sign for sailors
Took the Chute down before dark as there were a lot of clouds building. and
by midnight we were in the grip of the trade winds which varied between 10
and 20+ kts.
This morning was grey, cloudy and misty so went back to bed till 9 am
........................well it is Sunday is it not!
Still completely overcast as I write but the sun is trying to get the upper
hand.
I must give everyone a warning about Readybrek instant porridge. I like
the traditional stuff with heavy oats dash of salt etc............but the
washing up.................that stuff is better than superglue. Anyway I
took the wimps option and went for the one bowl instant which has unusual
properties. Do you know that it is lighter than air? I kid you not this
stuff will out pace dandelion seeds on a balmy summer day. So you can
imagine the scenario, following wind, hatch open, rolly boat, one big
lurch..............it was like the big bang in miniature. I 'm still
sneezing it out now and I'm sure my wet trousers will be welded to the
cockpit seat later. I'm working on some sort of vacuum transfer device
before tomorrow.
I nearly forgot we are halfway there, if you take the straight line route,
so may have a glass of wine tonight.
There is another thought for the day from Confucius:
"With coarse food to eat, water to drink, and a bent arm for a pillow,
happiness can still be found.
How long can we hang on to the trade winds and will the Sun break
through...........................see tomorrow.
