Land Ahoy!

Marina, Portugal. Log reading 16079 We made it! Yesterday, actually, we
landed at Vilamoura having sighted the lighthouse off the Southwest corner of
Portugal at 10pm. The wind continued from the north on Monday night giving
us good speed under a bright moon until midnight when someone turned the switch
off, the wind died and flat calm followed. Engine on, and with lots of
diesel we had the choice of motoring 5 hours to Vilamoura or 30 hours to
Gibraltar – difficult decision?? We opted for the easy one made
even more tempting with the option of a flight back to Southampton later in the
morning. Quick clean up of the boat, well done
Alastair for doing your favourite of cleaning the heads, pack up and jump on
the plane in Faro still unwashed – somehow we were all sat together
having been told there were only scattered seats – I think it was thought
best to contain the pollution! We arrived in Southampton to cries from
the wives of ?joy at seeing us ?the smell ?horror at the facial hair or maybe
it was just that it was all grey. Home, sweet home and on to planning the
next trip …….. |
