Slow rolling progress
Well it has been slow for about 12 hours now. Wind almost dead astern at 10kts and occasionally less, and we are running at a wind angle of 145 (port) and heading for mid Wales! But at least we are moving – albeit only at about 5kts. No idea how everyone else is faring – Bombardino is slowly overhauling us as you would expect for a 40 footer. Robert and I have seen some Orcas we reckon in the last hour or so! They are white mainly as far as we can tell, about one huge swell / wave away and are probably migrating from Portugal to Ireland which apparently is what they do. Nothing to worry about as they seem completely disinterested in us!! Robert also managed to fish out some of those funny white floating things – they look like the goose barnacles that afflicted the GGR boats in the S Atlantic! They did not look very appetising – a bit like a baby clam perhaps all grouped together. With this slow progress I think we are more likely to reach Falmouth Wednesday now. Winds do fill in a little later tonight according to the GRIB file but only to about 15kts. But as soon as we get over 12kts she moves so much better and the wind is not constantly shaken out of the sails (making it almost impossible to sleep I may add!) Barometer is rising as well – now 1027 so I think that big high pressure over the UK remains a feature which we will have to wrestle with! Lovely sunny day! More shipping about and all good on board!
