We have now left Road Town and headed to Peter Island (Great Harbour)...
lovely spot and did not even go ashore so very secluded -
We even managed a comfortable night sleep with the northerly swell coming
in to the bay which we managed to sleep right through which was lovely! It is
still quite funny that the weather has not settled down... some days we are
getting lovely breeze other days massive amount of breeze with rain (trying to
keep up with the uk, I suppose)
We headed from Peter Island to Marina Cay which is basically a reef with a
hut in the middle and some excellent snorkelling which has been fun... Wind was
on the nose again from the East blowing 18knots gusting 23 so fun sailing – We
had yet a little more of a set back!!!! I went below to find water sloshing over
the floor boards whilst beating to windward and the boat taking some waves and
this was a slight concern, bilge pump on and floor boards up to reveal lots of
water and a hissing noise coming from the side of the boat; I thought from a
skin fitting! After much panic and grab bag in hand we found out that the water
pressure system for the drinking water had a broken pipe and was spraying
everywhere (550 Litres approx) The bilge pump cleared the water in record time
and we started the massive clear up operation!!
This was not all – we then had to find marine spares in the middle of no
where – from speaking with the sunsail base and also other boaty places it
became obvious that we were not going to find European boat parts in the
Caribbean until Anna mentioned the plumbers merchants who was well stocked – we
now have a new tap that looks better then the old and new flexi pipe armoured
coated for extra strength; no leaks touch wood... it has been very stressful the
last few days as we are breaking things quicker then I can fix them! I was glad
that I brought all my drill etc...
Here are some pix to cheer you guys up in the UK
