Our passage from Antigua to Deshaies, Guadeloupe, was extraordinary for the
amount of sea life seen compared to my previous passages of this channel.
We saw what appeared to be a large area of Bonito chasing smaller fish and
several small groups of dolphins. There were also several pods of Pilot
Whales which seemed quite relaxed about our approach and remained on or near the
surface relaxing. What was odd was that all the cetaceans were travelling
east; this after a period of 3 months when the only cetaceans we saw were the
dolphin entering Jolly Harbour and a pair of humpback whales breaching at the
north of Guadeloupe.
