Rossi has kept up her fish catching habit, totalling 4 mahi mahi in
four days. She has concluded that she is catching juveniles on their way
home from school because they were all caught around 4.30 pm, apart from one
late arrival. Meanwhile, the skipper is becoming increasingly skilled at
despatching and filleting the fish!
The weather has been sunny and warm with the sea temperature now up to 25
C. The wind has been volatile with light patches interspersed randomly with
stronger winds, but nothing over 25 knots so far; mostly 10-15 knots, which is
not fast but is pleasant sailing.
Today’s excitement was when the gennaker decided to wrap itself around both
itself and the forestay during a brief change in the wind. Fortunately, the
problem was soon resolved and we are back sailing again.
A German catamaran which we passed a few evenings ago has reappeared just
behind us and asked for a weather forecast which we will relay after updating
our grib files. This is the only boat we have seen in that period.
We expect the first of the large boats from the ARC, which set out on 25th from
Gran Canaria, to pass us next week although it is unlikely we shall see them as
they will be well dispersed by then.
