Another quick update to let you know the Trade
Winds are still with us and our excellent progress continues, just over 200
nm on our last 24hr run. The winds have been between 20 and 25 knots for much of
the time, but tonight appear to be moderating, which will mean slower progress,
but an easier time on Stream and her crew. Pete scored the highest surfing speed
today - 12.4 knots!
It really is very exciting when a huge wall of water slowly rolls up
astern, lifts the transom, the bow points steeply "downhill" and you suddenly
take off, just as though you have floored the accelerator in the
car (Well, I suppose that depends on what car you happen to be driving, but you
get the idea!)
For some reason (probably my ineptitude) we do not seem to be able to pick
up incoming mail, so apologies if you have emailed and not got a reply.
Although we still have over 400 nm to go (450 as I write), thoughts are
obviously turning as to when we might arrive in Antigua, barring major problems.
At the current rate of progress it could be as early as Sunday morning, but
hopefully if not then, sometime on Monday. If we loose the wind like we
did last week and only manage 60 nm /day, who knows when we will arrive?
Needless to say our fingers are well
crossed. |
