We've changed course to a more Southerly line to
get more favourable winds and avoid possible head winds further West. For
a time today conditions were more pleasant with sunshine and a less agitated
motion due to less swell. Unfortunately it didn't last long and we are back to
bowling along with the occasional violent shudder which makes it very difficult
to do anything. It is getting hot though.
Today we lost the windvane back up self steering
system, something broke the secondary rudder, and the ensuing vibration undid
all the fastenings and it dissappeared off the back of the boat. With all
the lock nuts used I would not have believed it was possible
.
Later tommorrow we should reach the halfway
point.
