Finally we have found the sun!! after a dreadful
night rafted in Peniche (town is nice!!) suffering from swells, massive wash and
unwelcome French pirate 'rafters' with poor fenders and 0400 fishing boats
running at max speed out of the harbour!!....we were glad to
leave...
Superb sail along the coast having led the fleet
out of harbour (no start line, just log timed sailing through harbour P&S
breakwater marks. Started with good wind which only dropped for an hour or
so, consequently sailed all the way!!.. Coming round the final headland
and into the river estuary we recorded 37 knots of wind true!!...with full sail
up we carereed directly down wind planing at 9 knots and yours trul'y
heart in the mouth after what seemed like 3 'lifetimes' the wind dropped to a
sedate 25knots and Bob took over the tactical match with Ben More to the finish
line. In spite of the fact Skip managed to see the wrong finish line the day was
saved as Ben More tried to take us on the inside and we fought back to cross the
line a boat length a head!! Well done to Bob for keeping his nerve as we
fought off the challenge.
Attached are a few pic's of recent exploit's as now
finally we settle into +30C and sunshine, after major clean up and laundry we
are attending prize giving tonight and then tomorrow visit into Lisbon.
Readers will be pleased to hear all our better halves have arrived at Lagos and
settled into the hotel, they have a few day's to enjoy before the 'desperados'
arrive!!
