Last night was the pontoon party to celebrate
Alison's 60th birthday. Everyone was there from the rally to wish her
well (the were safety concerns as there were to many people on the one
section of the pontoon that it actually started sinking. Disaster was avoided by
getting Terry to stand on the next pontoon!!!.
We were then invited onto Andiamo with the Essex
Geezers for dinner - Frey Bentos pie, real mash and various veg. We believe that
they planned to ply us with alcohol in an attempt to scotch our chances in
today's race. However we were ready for this dastardly trick and
were careful to stay soberish. It was a great evening and they
really made us very welcome on their palatial vessel.
Today was a great race with most boats finishing
within 30mins of each other with no engine hours. Once again the most exciting
part was the finish around the headland where winds picked up
substantially. Our skipper got a full on soaking as we turned into wind after
the finish line to take the sails down. The crew were all very concerned
for his wellbeing !!
Tomorrow we have a non race day to Peniche via
a lunchtime stop at some islands (nature reserve) 5 miles off
land.
