Welcome to our 1st Blog - Renegade was re-launched
today 5th December in Brighton after 4 week refit in preparation for 2009 Rally
Portugal and beyond.
Copper coat touched up, hull polished and drive leg
serviced and shaft seal changed, new anode and service Kiwi
prop. New Sea Cock fitted and sea water supply to galley sink
commissioned. Thanks to Garth GRP & Felton Marine.
New Iridium 9522-P/TP Sat Phone installed and
function tested on voice and GPS position with Sam & Ed's help from
mailasail. Next challenge is the Mailasail
E-Mail connection and issues with USB/serial interface with Laptop Vista
Operating System!!.
Big Thanks to Terry & John that all the yard
dirt & grime scrubbed off the deck, new stern anchor box finished and fitted
(excellent woodwork on this thanks to John) and Renegade is looking spic
& span. Laptop is now configured to use the Avtex TV screen which
gives great viewing of our passage planning navigation charts from Maptech
(configuration courtesy of Bob our IT guru!) Fortunately weather was kind today
for the re-launch after the gales of the last two days up on the hard.
Evenings now being spent reading all the pilot books and passage/port planning
for the 2009 Med voyage!!.
