hi all from our big blue playing
field!
as you may have seen over the last few days our
progress has slowed quite dramatically. dont worry we have not burn out, there
are no injuries and niall hasnt jumped overboard, he have unfortunately been
subject to less favourable weather conditions. at the moment the sea is flat
calm and we are rowing hard into a headwind which is making progress painfully
slow. the prediction for the next few days is also pretty poor so there may be
times when it will be pointless for us to row at all and we will be forced to
wait it out. its so very frustrating as there are likely to be crews out there
who have very different conditions and continue to make good progress to
antigua. we just hope for a few huge days to make up for lost time, and to be
honest we will be very happy if this is the worst weather we have to put up
with.
on the plus side we seem to be getting our
backsides under control through the application of various creams and praying to
god at least twice daily! the main problem now is the pressure from being sat
down for so long but we are working on our seat pads to make them as comfortable
as possible.
today it was my turn to jump overbaord with all the
grace of vanessa feltz at an all you can eat! our boat continues to grow various
things on the underside which came off without much effort. its a very strange
feeling as you can cannot see the bottom and there could be absolutely anything
swimming around. i took the opportunity to take a few pics and then hopped back
onboard for what is now my 3rd wash in over 2 weeks.
our night shifts are now 1 hour rater than 2 which
seems far more productive, im presently listening to my top 100 songs on my mp3.
ive no idea how some of nialls crap music has managed to infiltrate my mp3 let
alone make it into my top 100 so every now and then some awful excuse of a song
will come through the headphones and i fall about trying desperately to skip
forward.
a quick hi to everyone at st stephens out of school
club! thank very much for the card and radio message, il comae and see you all
when i get back in february. a big shout out to jamie and emily of global
boatworks in exmouth where our little beauty was built. jamie you really have
done a fantastic job and we thoroughly look forward to taking you both out when
we get back. oh and there will be no talk of boats, just lots of eating and
drinking!!
bye for now
