Good day everyone, another beautiful day at sea.
We’ve found some good wind after a few days of doldrum-like
weather. Winds are from the ENE at 17-20kts and the temperature is
hovering around 28-30C, with the ocean a balmy 28C. The sea state
is about 4-6ft. We’re humming along at 7.5kts towards our
destination. Yesterday was the first day that we didn’t make our
distance quota of 144nm – we ended up travelling only 133nm. Yesterday Ian caught another nice Mahi-Mahi that weighed
about 12lbs and it put up one heck of a fight. With Kevin’s
assistance, they manhandle the bugger into the boat for the obligatory picture
– for evidentiary purposes back at the pub. Fortunately, the
fish was released to live on another day. Newman was the victim of an assault
with a flying fish during his night watch. One flew right into him while
he had the helm. He was a bit startled to say the least. The sun is becoming “Caribbean hot” and we spend
as much time trying to get out of its fierce rays as we do sunbathing.
Our once white skins are now turning various shades of brown, including our
“big brown baby” Ian. We had a brief encounter with other humans yesterday as the
Motor Vessel “Pelican” passed close aboard. We were all
trying to guess what they were having for lunch and thinking of the things that
we’d like to eat and drink. Hamburgers and chips, beer, and ice
cream were a few “delicacies” mentioned. That’s it for now. Thank you all for your
messages – keep sending them along. Yours aye, Nimble Apes PS – what are the football scores for the past few
weeks. Chelsea, in particular. |
