Well we’ve arrived! 3200 miles in 22 days at a
rough estimate on the mileage. I’ll update with some proper stats
tomorrow once we’ve had something to eat and a few beers. The first
shower after 22 days was heaven, I could turn right around and get back in it
felt so good. Anyway. We arrived at about 1530 and once we had found out
where Customs and Immigration were to be found we were subjected to a seemingly
endless round of form filling with a surly official who wants me to return tomorrow
with evidence of onward travel for all of us before he’ll release our
passports.....welcome to the BVI! Despite the petty officialdom, the
marina is great, the staff are friendly and all things considered it looks a
great spot. Ian caught another fish today, he also had a lucky escape as
the Apes had already decided to eat ashore tonight, although I might indulge
myself with one of his splendidly cooked friends! That’s all for today folks, I’ll send another
one tomorrow to round the blog off in a more satisfactory way.
Here’s a shot of the Apes on the final approach to Tortola. |
